Dental Implants

Missing teeth can lead you to feel self conscious in addition to causing difficulty when eating. Shifting teeth can also affect your facial structure, which can lead to facial sagging and your ability to speak clearly.

Dental implants are a great option for those with missing teeth who want a long-term solution to restore normal chewing and a full natural smile and aren't interested in having dentures or bridges.

How Dental Implants Work

A dental implant is a post made of a biocompatible material such as titanium that is surgically placed into the jawbone.  As the site heals, bone actually grows around the post, securing its position. Its strength makes it a great foundation for the restoration that will be attached to it.

A dental crown, which is a replacement tooth, is then affixed to the post, which serves as an anchor. This allows for very natural looking teeth. Implants can be used to replace all missing teeth, but can also serve to be anchors for restorations like bridges and partial dentures.

Dental Implants Improve Oral Health

The process of placing implants can help prevent bone deterioration. Missing teeth cause the loss of bone bearing, and when that happens, the bone loses strength. Implants also help the prevention of the surrounding teeth moving by stabilizing the position of teeth.
